In May 2023 we were awarded Artsmark Silver Award in recognition of our fantastic arts provision. Artsmark is the only creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England. It supports schools to develop and celebrate arts and cultural education across the whole curriculum, bringing learning to life for children and young people.
In order to achieve their Artsmark Award, we developed our arts and culture provision to embed a broad and balanced curriculum. This was achieved by creating an overall plan that was committed to and delivered across the whole school.
The development of the curriculum, and the awards received in recognition of our achievements, is not possible without the dedication of our amazing staff. They are passionate about their subject areas and providing the best provision they can for all children. Is it only down the energy, creative ideas and sheer hard work of Miss Bonnick to drive forward our Art & Design Lead curriculum that we have achieved this prestigious award.
Miss Bonnick was supported by Artswork in planning and developing the objectives and supporting our Artsmark Award achievement.
The Artsmark assessor commended Broadlea on the positive ways we found to engage pupils in the arts and cultural activities through online learning during lockdown. They praised our links with the community and the provision of opportunities for all pupils to perform, see live performances and to create artworks. The assessors recognised that pupils and staff have also benefited from working with, and experiencing workshops from professional artists which has enhanced learning opportunities and increased skill levels.
We’re extremely proud of achieving our Artsmark Silver Award. We are committed to delivering a high-quality arts and cultural education and are already planning ways to grow and enrich our curriculum even further.
