Arts Council Glass Blowing
The Arts Council visited Sculptglass studio art glass centre at Arreton Barns. They were lucky enough to be given a talk and demonstration by the staff there so they could see how glass can be shaped and coloured. The glass blowers made a beautiful, blue and purple fish while the pupils watched.
They were amazed to see how the patterns and colours in the glass were created and to watch the fin shapes being pulled out of the blob of glass. Jack even got the chance to use his lungs to blow a glass bubble. The pupils were also shown how they recycle the offcuts of glass-turning them into lovely vases and sculptures - so that nothing is wasted - the Arts Council thought was a great idea!
The pupils all agreed that they would love to go back and spend more time looking around the gorgeous creations. If anyone has never been before, we would highly recommend visiting the centre. The staff were so friendly and kind giving up there valuable time to show us how they make their wonderful creations.
