Junk Modelling Workshop
In May 2022, we welcomed local artist and junk modeller Anthony James , who has a workshop at Arreton Barns, to visit our school and work with our Year 5 pupils. The pupils spent the day creating models of train carriages from junk. Anthony started by showing the children some of the models he has made from junk during his career working on films such as the Jurassic Park, and on television working on programmes such as Blue Peter.
Anthony helped the children to design their train carriage for a member of the Royal family, giving lots of top tips about turning junk into wonderful 3D creations. The pupils involved really enjoyed the day with all managing to complete a model. Working with local artists through art workshops encourages children to be creative, develop critical thinking and build confidence, sparking a lifelong interest in the arts. We look forward to welcoming more artists into school.
