Welcome

I am delighted to write a few words of introduction to welcome you to Broadlea Primary School. Itis a great privilege to have been appointed as headteacher and to lead a team of skilled andreflective staff who prioritise the needs of children at the centre of all they do. Our school is a place of fun, laughter and learning where everyone strives for excellence every day. We aim to provide a rich and varied curriculum through our extensive learning environment, including Forest School, ICT Suite, our beautiful new Library and the extensive school grounds. Our school curriculum is designed to motivate and excite our children, as well as to provide them with the knowledge, skills and personal traits and dispositions they need to be fully equipped and empowered to embrace their future. We encourage learning outside of the classroom through visits to places of interest and utilising
our beautiful local area. Our Forest School natural, tree-enclosed environment offers all learners, from Reception to Year 6, regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences.
In February 2024, our completely repurposed and extensive Early Years learning environment was opened to our Reception children. Along with the skilled and experienced teaching team, this state of the art environment offers a provision which makes learning and play irresistible. Following this secure start, children progress through our fully reburnished key stage 1 environment where learning is carefully and purposefully planned, building on the secure foundations of EYFS interwoven with continued opportunities for learning through play.
Children begin to learn to read, write and spell using our chosen phonics programme, Little Wandle, as soon as they begin school. Our uncompromising ambition is for all children to became fluent and confident readers who learn to read so they can read to learn.
We strive to be an inclusive school and are very proud of our children and staff: they are so supportive of one another; they confidently and openly talk about diversity; and they work hard every day to ensure that our school is a place where everyone feels valued and included. We are delighted to be a School Games Gold school, which recognises the range of clubs, activities and opportunities provided to all our pupils. We are also Stonewall School Champions recognising our ongoing work to tackle homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying and celebrate diversity.
At Broadlea, your child will be celebrated as an individual, whilst joining a strong community of parents, children, staff and governors, whose joint aim is to provide the highest possible standard of education. I hope that this website will help you to find out about the life of our very special school. However, the best way to learn more is to come in and see us, look around the school, and see for yourself what we have to offer.
