Carnival 2021
Year 4 were lucky enough to take part in a carnival costume-making workshop led by two artists from the New Carnival Company. The children designed some costumes and Finley's design, a rainbow bird, was chosen as the inspiration for the costumes. The artists were brilliant and had everything ready for them which made it easier. They used foam, florist's tape and LOTS of double-sided sticky tape to hold everything together! In one day, they each managed to make a headdress, a collar and a wand which looked amazing! Some of the children had to be prised out of them at the end of the workshop as they liked wearing them so much!
This was then rolled out to the rest of the school so that everyone had the opportunity to make a headdress. As there will be no carnivals on the Isle of Wight this summer, we held our own Carnival Parade as part of National Children’s Carnival Week. Everyone enjoyed dancing around the playground to the music - it was a great opportunity to get the whole school together!
