Welcome
Welcome to Broadlea Primary School
I am delighted to welcome you to Broadlea Primary School, where our values of Aspiration, Resilience and Kindness underpin everything we do as we support every child to be the best they can be.
It is a great privilege to lead a team of skilled and reflective staff who prioritise the needs of children at the centre of all they do. Our school is a place where every child is valued as an individual and everyone strives to achieve their very best in all they do.
We are committed to ensuring that pupils are ready for the next stage of education and our curriculum is carefully designed to motivate and excite our children whilst providing them with the knowledge, skills, vocabulary and inspiration they need to embrace their future. By supporting our children to develop resilience, curiosity, compassion, understanding and aspiration, we lay the building blocks to ensure they are ready for the next stage in their learning and beyond.
Our Learning Environment
We aim to provide a rich and varied curriculum through our extensive learning environment, including Forest School, our beautiful library, art room and extensive school grounds. In February 2024, our completely repurposed and extensive Early Years and Key Stage One learning environment was opened, creating a state-of-the-art provision where learning and play are truly irresistible. Building on the impact this refurbished environment had on learning, we have redecorated the remainder of school to create calm learning spaces using a therapeutic approach which we believe is essential.
Reading and Early Learning
Children begin to learn to read, write and spell using our chosen phonics programme, Little Wandle, as soon as they begin school. Our uncompromising ambition is for all children to become fluent and confident readers who learn to read so they can read to learn. Our phonics results are consistently strong, ensuring children have the foundational skills they need to succeed.
High-Quality Teaching for All
We are focused on embedding high-quality, inclusive teaching in every classroom, ensuring that all learners—especially our disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND—receive the support they need to thrive. We strive to be an inclusive school and are very proud of our children and staff: they are so supportive of one another and work hard every day to ensure that our school is a place where everyone feels valued and included.
Enrichment and Cultural Capital
At Broadlea, we encourage learning beyond the classroom, enhancing children's cultural capital through visiting places of interest, inviting visitors into school and utilising our beautiful local area. Our Forest School natural, tree-enclosed environment offers all learners, from Reception to Year 6, regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences.
We are delighted to be a School Games Platinum school and to be working towards reaccreditation of our Arts Mark. Both accreditations recognise the range of clubs, activities and opportunities provided for our children.
Partnership with Families
To achieve our ambitions for every child, we believe that partnership and communication between home and school is essential. We work closely with our families to ensure the best outcomes for all children. Parents have high expectations for pupils' pastoral care and personal development, and we are committed to working together to achieve these. All classes have Class Dojo accounts set up to support communication between home and school and our Family Liaison Officer is available to provide additional support for families as needed.
Visit Us
At Broadlea, your child will be celebrated as an individual whilst joining a strong community of parents, children, staff and governors, whose joint aim is to provide the highest possible standard of education. I hope that this website will help you to find out about the life of our very special school. However, the best way to learn more is to come in and see us, look around the school, and see for yourself what we have to offer.
We very much look forward to meeting you.
